Early history
Inspired by Paracelsus and founded by Dr. Walter Winkelmann, a renowned naturopath, they carried a vision to make Switzerland the center of a revolution in medical care who also went on to form the Swiss Naturopathic Society which was one of his major contributions to the Swiss medical community.
Even after Dr Winkelmann's passing, the Clinic expanded its medical and therapeutic staff thus allowing the centre to flourish and grow till it faced a critical turning point due to administrative struggles.
Establishment and progression
Arriving as Medical Director in 1992, Dr. Rau’s vision was to build the Clinic into an international center for a new system of medicine, which he coined “Biological Medicine” – a system whose methods are now recognized and emulated worldwide.
In Biological Medicine, the focus is on determining the underlying cause of illnesses, treating them naturally and simultaneously helping the body build up its immune and self-regulatory forces. This reflects how the body is designed to function and is in stark contrast to the approach of modern-day medicine.
One of his signature innovations was by correlating both the knowledge of medicine and dentistry to restore health and wellness to the individual. He recognized early on that virtually every patient suffered from insidious oral health problems which led to their illness. For this reason, the Paracelsus Clinic includes a state-of-the-art dental department and an in-house laboratory which is a testament of commitment towards this therapeutic doctrine.
Embarking into the future
Even years after Dr. Rau's retirement, Paracelsus Clinic continues to adapt in view of global changes. Our focus has changed to offering treatment programs worldwide to accommodate current health issues. Paracelsus Clinic is one of the few Clinics in the world, who can offer solutions to chronic disease where conventional medicine has either only managed to suppress them or even entirely failed to treat.
